UPPAbaby Co-founder: Budget Strollers Inevitably Compromise on Material Quality and Durability

UPPAbaby co-founder Bob Monahan explains why premium strollers cannot be produced cheaply without cutting corners on core hardware like bearings, rivets, and tire materials.
“It would be less. It's just not as good. I mean, it's just, is you know, Hyundai still has a radio. It's got wheels, tires, power windows, power, whatever, but it's not. And it's what your values are. There's somewhere in there. Either the rivets aren't stainless steel and they're going to rust, or it doesn't have bearings that are ultimately going to wobble, or it's got You know, EVA foam instead of PU foam in the tires, it's going to wear out. I can go on and on. There's like everything on the stroller, you can buy steel powder coated, or you can buy aluminum anodized. There's just a million little things, and each one you can choose in terms of manufacturing and what's on it, what the materials are, the durability. This is what it costs.”
