Janous: US data center constraints will persist through 2030 and beyond
Brian Janous · What comes after the data center backlash? · Sep 3, 2026 · at 40:30
Energy executive Brian Janous explains why data center developers underestimating grid interconnection bottlenecks face persistent constraints into the 2030s.
“All the stuff we thought we were going to build in this country, or thought we could build, a lot of that's not going to get built, because of all the things we've just been talking about. Like, I think that, and this problem is going to persist for the foreseeable future, and everyone who thought, oh, I just got a constraint in 27 or 28, you have the same constraint in 29 and 30, and possibly into the early twenty-thirties. Like, I think this will just continue to be a very, very tight market.”
