Patrick Collison, co-founder and CEO of Stripe, explains why building products for enterprise customers is easier to execute systematically than consumer products.
“I still remember, kind of, sitting in our front room telling us how much better it was to be building B to B software than consumer software for this reason, ah, where, sort of, consumer software, it's so hard to predict, sort of, What people want. They don't even know themselves what they want. You're kind of, you're, it's such an amorphous space. Whereas when you're selling software to businesses, you know, businesses are kind of, are mostly rational, are mostly, I don't know what the opposite of inscrutable is. Scrutable, I guess. Ah, and, ah, and so you can sort of work backwards in, in a way that sort of ah, it's just much more comprehensible.”
