Simon Schillebeeckx, co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer of Handprint, explains Handprint's core philosophy contrasting positive environmental handprints with traditional carbon footprint reduction.
“Our overarching thesis is that the environmental responsibility of an organization should not be limited to simply reducing its negative impact. There's a much more aspirational goal to be found in working with companies to create a positive impact in the world. That appeals more to employees. It appeals more to customers, and it has A much better alignment actually with the capitalist system where the goal of profit seeking organizations is to maximize profit. And that aligns much more with creating a very sizable or maximize a handprint rather than having a goal that is just about limits and constraints, which is the footprint.”
