“They're important for the board, but you cannot push down the metrics to the people. So you have to celebrate your employees for making biryani. So like if your marketer is writing a brilliant blog post or your AdWords person is coming up with a creative campaign, or let's say your product person has really built a cool feature. So employees need to be celebrated for Making biryani or actually creating those, whatever doing, whatever they are good at, because the combination of those ingredients is what brings that biryani for your business. If you focus too much on the metrics and push it down to employees, not everybody's excited about a billion dollars in revenue or five million in revenue. They're not excited about salespeople can be excited about hitting a target, but employees need to be celebrated for what they're really good at and what value they're adding.”
