Netskope founder and CEO Sanjay Beri speaks with VC Mamoun Hamid about selecting investors and board members who culturally align with founder autonomy.
“One of the most important quote hires you make is obviously your investor, or your board member, and just like you would hire maybe your 100th, your 400th, or your 1000th person, you want to obviously have the frame of what your culture, your company is, and so the number one thing for us when we, when I chose our board member was they had to be of that ilk, an open, collaborative, transparent person, but also they can't be a pontificator. People who come in a room and say, you know, when I was doing X 20 years ago, I used to do it this way. It was the worst thing. It's a different world, different time, and you gotta let your entrepreneurs be who they are and build their company.”
