Lubershain: Building heat will see the longest tail of natural gas use

Andy Lubershain of Energy Impact Partners explains to Shayle Kann why distributed building heating networks will retain natural gas longer than other energy sectors.
“Where I'm pretty confident we'll, we'll see the longest tail of natural gas for the foreseeable future is in all of the end uses that are currently served by natural gas at the distribution level. So again, That's predominantly building heating. Interestingly enough, well, while it seems innocuous, we don't think about it all that much in the scheme of kind of big energy end uses. I'm kind of convinced that building heat ends up turning out to be one of the toughest to just sort of fully decarbonize for a bunch of the reasons we've been talking about today. And I think it's one where, you know, natural gas will continue to play A role for quite a long time to come.”
