In 1984, Lerner co-founded Cisco Systems alongside Leonard Bosack, helping commercialize early multi-protocol routers. She later launched the cosmetics brand Urban Decay, established the humane agricultural estate Ayrshire Farm, and authored the Jane Austen sequel Second Impressions.
