Carl Waldekranz is the co-founder and CEO of Tictail. He explains how fundraising expectations shift from vision-driven early rounds to data-driven metrics in a Series B round.
“Well, they're different in the way that you're pitching completely different things. Like, when we went out and raced the Series C, we had a 10 slide long pitch deck, and it was all about the team, the product, and the vision. As you go on to race the Series B, and you go out and race 20 times as much as you did in your Series C, Then the pitch deck changes. It's much more about the data points, how they've been changing over time. Different, certain initiatives on the product development side that have, like, immediately had a positive or negative impact on your KPIs. Like, the story you're telling still has a foundation in, like, the vision and the long-term opportunity, but it's much, much, much more based on data.”
