The Exchanges

Every argument clarity score on this site is built from rows on this page. Each question and answer was assessed with names hidden, the host's own answers included, on four things from 1 to 5: directness (does it answer the question asked), coherence (do the ideas follow), precision (concrete details and clear references), compression (says a lot per word). The weighted mix (30/30/25/15) is the exchange score. A person's published score averages their exchange scores on raw tape only, at least 8 of them, shrunk toward the cohort mean. Full method →

Michael Hamilton no published score: no usable exchanges on raw tape, and a fair score needs 8+ record → ← everyone

Every exchange below was scored with names hidden, four dimensions each from 1 to 5. An exchange's score is 0.30·directness + 0.30·coherence + 0.25·precision + 0.15·compression. The published score averages the raw tape exchange scores and shrinks small samples toward the cohort mean, so five great answers can't beat twenty good ones. Produced feed rows count only toward coarse estimates, never toward a full score.

Q down and try and dumb it down for me. Um, if I have, you know, I have a great golden retriever. Um, he sees the vet once every, you know, two months. Sometimes it's a different vet though, because I'm on vacation or I'm moving around. How do you incentivize vets to submit the data? It could be different vets to your central database that then shows on the microchip.

A Yeah, that's an excellent question. With every hospital that we onboard, we take a hard look at the data. Right. So we have a breakdown of every pet, you know, that has a microchip, uh, the brand, a microchip, every pet that does not have a microchip, uh, the breakdown of how many pets, you know, how often they're seen that year. So we know exactly what we're getting into. So we're essentially providing a service for them by, you know, pulling all this data together. Right. And then, you know, we're able to garner a critical mass because every pet that is already chipped with another brand. Is auto enrolled into Piva at no cost of the hospital or the pet owner. They just have to kind of confirm their accounts, right? But that's really, really important.

Q Did it make you nervous at the time?

A Um, No, it really didn't, because I just had, um, so much support at that time, um, from the University at Buffalo. I mean, academic chairs. I mean, this was after, like, root cause analysis. I had, um, you know, was offset by different grants. I also had buy-in from, you know, a highly, uh, regarded veterinarian here that sold off two practices to a major corporation, and then, um, you know, Once I started putting my own money in, it's just like, it's kind of like a no lose situation. Plus I was a single guy at the time, just loved my dog. When I was a little kid, my dog was stolen and never got him back. I identified the problem. And this truly is the only way to resolve the problem.
