The Exchanges

Every argument clarity score on this site is built from rows on this page. Each question and answer was assessed with names hidden, the host's own answers included, on four things from 1 to 5: directness (does it answer the question asked), coherence (do the ideas follow), precision (concrete details and clear references), compression (says a lot per word). The weighted mix (30/30/25/15) is the exchange score. A person's published score averages their exchange scores on raw tape only, at least 8 of them, shrunk toward the cohort mean. Full method →

Mateo Munoz no published score: no usable exchanges on raw tape, and a fair score needs 8+ · coarse estimate ≈4.5/5 from 4 produced feed exchanges record → ← everyone

Every exchange below was scored with names hidden, four dimensions each from 1 to 5. An exchange's score is 0.30·directness + 0.30·coherence + 0.25·precision + 0.15·compression. The published score averages the raw tape exchange scores and shrinks small samples toward the cohort mean, so five great answers can't beat twenty good ones. Produced feed rows count only toward coarse estimates, never toward a full score.

Q How'd you survive? Why weren't you fired like a dog and let go?

A So I was the VP of sales and marketing at that point in time, and we were scaling pretty well here in the United States. I had actually had my own marketing and advertising company, albeit small, uh, going into the, the first fight or into the financial crash there in 2008. So I'd have been through a little bit of restructuring and scaling issues before. So my CEO came in, Notice that we had a really big, uh, or he had a lot to concentrate on in the UK and said, hey, Mateo, do you think this is something that you want to take on? Are you kind of ready to go to battle? And I said, let's do it. Um, took over the MD role here in the United States, was the first presence as an actual director, having a director on this side of the water.

Q Okay. Okay. Got it. And what is the, why are you doing, you keep using the word pounds? Do you have, is any of the team over there or it's just the holding LLC?

A We're diverse. So we have, we sit with about 12 here in the United States and then we, we have about 20 on the European side. So some of that being, uh, some of that being in the UK, some of it being in our, uh, we have a Germany office also, we have presence in Norway. Uh, and in Dubai. So, uh, we've, we've gone to a pretty, uh, a pretty mobile group. So not only do we have our Salt Lake City office, we have a Raleigh, North Carolina office where we have some sales, but then we have remote workers throughout the United States as necessary. So we've really gone to that, that we don't need to all be in an office at one point in time mentality. We can connect like we're connecting today via Skype and, and have a very effective business meeting still.

Q And are you, I mean, are you guys right now cashflow positive or close to close to break even?

A Yeah. Yeah, we, we definitely are. So we, we sit with a positive PBT currently. Um, so that does, so that is a profit before taxes. Uh, it's, it's a mark, it's a mark on the, on the UK side a little bit. So I get, you know, PBT, EBIT. Um, I'm constantly trying to do conversions in my head too, with, with money because of stuff being reported back to the board of pounds and other items there. Um, but we are doing that. Um, some of it is, I will be candid about it. Some of it is drawback because of investment. We've just spent a ton of money into, into the software product. And so some of it is drawback into that.

AI assessment note: “Yeah. Yeah, we, we definitely are. So we, we sit with a positive PBT”

Q That's good. Now that series A that you did, that was just a total, like typical venture, or did you have like venture debt in there as well?

A It was actually, it's typical venture, but we actually did it through private wealth. So we're actually out for our series B right now and looking for a venture. Uh, so we can get a little bit more, a little more help in private wealth. Great because it doesn't touch you. They, they don't want to come in and change a lot, but we do, we are looking for a little bit, a little bit of the, how much you want to raise. Um, so we're looking right now at doing about 6.5, so about five million pounds. 6.5 US is what we're looking to use to, to kind of just accelerate that sales process. Um, we're just releasing the, the, the SAS product coming out of beta, uh, as of September, have about, have about 10, 10 clients signed up for that with a lot of people waiting for it currently. So we, we, we knew to scale back and not bring too many people onto our black beta platform, learning from some of those mistakes that happened before.
