The Exchanges

Every argument clarity score on this site is built from rows on this page. Each question and answer was assessed with names hidden, the host's own answers included, on four things from 1 to 5: directness (does it answer the question asked), coherence (do the ideas follow), precision (concrete details and clear references), compression (says a lot per word). The weighted mix (30/30/25/15) is the exchange score. A person's published score averages their exchange scores on raw tape only, at least 8 of them, shrunk toward the cohort mean. Full method →

Every exchange below was scored with names hidden, four dimensions each from 1 to 5. An exchange's score is 0.30·directness + 0.30·coherence + 0.25·precision + 0.15·compression. The published score averages the raw tape exchange scores and shrinks small samples toward the cohort mean, so five great answers can't beat twenty good ones. Produced feed rows count only toward coarse estimates, never toward a full score.

Q So tell us about the company. What does niche.com do? And what's your revenue model? How do you make money?

A Sure. So, um, niche is, um, a great platform for helping you choose the right college, the right place to live, and the right K through 12 schools. So today we have coverage on all 5000 colleges, all 120,000 K through 12 schools in every city, town, and neighborhood in the United States. Last 12 months we had fifty million unique visitors. This month we're going to do about nine, ten million monthly visits. We're growing traffic 70, 80% right now. We're in a, all in Pittsburgh. Um, we're punching way above our weight class. We have a hundred and twenty million reviews and opinions. We have all the hard data, and then we have all this qualitative data. Um, but, um, we make money a lot of different ways. We have a SAS revenue product that's going really well. It's a subscription model for colleges and high schools where they can enhance their brand and drive very high quality traffic. Um, back to their site, and we drive them really quality traffic. Um, we have about 400 paying clients there. Um, we have some contextual partnerships with realtor.com, with different college loan companies, with some scholarships. Um, but yeah, we make money in a variety of different ways, but the SaaS revenue direct to colleges and high schools is what's growing the fastest right now. That's what we're very bullish on.
