The Exchanges

Every argument clarity score on this site is built from rows on this page. Each question and answer was assessed with names hidden, the host's own answers included, on four things from 1 to 5: directness (does it answer the question asked), coherence (do the ideas follow), precision (concrete details and clear references), compression (says a lot per word). The weighted mix (30/30/25/15) is the exchange score. A person's published score averages their exchange scores on raw tape only, at least 8 of them, shrunk toward the cohort mean. Full method →

Garth Moulton no published score: no usable exchanges on raw tape, and a fair score needs 8+ record → ← everyone

Every exchange below was scored with names hidden, four dimensions each from 1 to 5. An exchange's score is 0.30·directness + 0.30·coherence + 0.25·precision + 0.15·compression. The published score averages the raw tape exchange scores and shrinks small samples toward the cohort mean, so five great answers can't beat twenty good ones. Produced feed rows count only toward coarse estimates, never toward a full score.

Q Walk us through, ah, I imagine there's some traffic play here or data play here, but, ah, Garth, how's it make money?

A Well, up until three years ago, it was just a typical search engine, uh, driving traffic to partners, uh, that would, uh, we would give you, uh, you know, a classic use case would be somebody comes on, they're looking for an old girlfriend, and they put in a name and a location, and then, uh, we searched the deep web, uh, put together on the fly a profile of, uh, attribute information, and then we asked You know, do you want a credit report on this person? Do you want a, do you want business information on this person? Do you want, uh, more in-depth information? And then we would send the traffic out to our partners. And over the last three years, uh, that has morphed into, we're more of a data company. We're selling API access, uh, and basic search tools to access the data, the profiles, um, to three major channels. One is the other people search. Applications that you may, that are much more popular, spend more money on marketing, um, where the backend, uh, fulfilling the data requests for them.
