The Exchanges

Every argument clarity score on this site is built from rows on this page. Each question and answer was assessed with names hidden, the host's own answers included, on four things from 1 to 5: directness (does it answer the question asked), coherence (do the ideas follow), precision (concrete details and clear references), compression (says a lot per word). The weighted mix (30/30/25/15) is the exchange score. A person's published score averages their exchange scores on raw tape only, at least 8 of them, shrunk toward the cohort mean. Full method →

Bob Burg no published score: no usable exchanges on raw tape, and a fair score needs 8+ record → ← everyone

Every exchange below was scored with names hidden, four dimensions each from 1 to 5. An exchange's score is 0.30·directness + 0.30·coherence + 0.25·precision + 0.15·compression. The published score averages the raw tape exchange scores and shrinks small samples toward the cohort mean, so five great answers can't beat twenty good ones. Produced feed rows count only toward coarse estimates, never toward a full score.

Q over a million books In over 21 different languages, how are you finding people are, you know, do you have a specific strategy you're using to, to really sell these books outside of the great job you've done building relationships with folks that are distributing your books? In other words, do you do a lot of it online, or is it mostly in person? Let's dive into one of those.

A Sure. Well, there are probably three basic ways that, that we move a lot of books. Uh, one of them is through my activities on social media, uh, and that would include Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, uh, Google Plus, uh, and so forth. That is, and we have a Go-Giver Ambassadors page on Facebook where we have a, uh, a tip of the day from, you know, any of the, of John's and my Go-Giver book. So what happens is through social media people find us, uh, Uh, they find the website. Now, another way, uh, another top of the funnel, if you will, is the interviews that I do. Uh, this book has been out since, uh, two, since the winter of 2008, and I continue to do probably five, six, seven interviews a week on this book.

Q laws, uh, in the go-giver brilliantly, so this is gonna be really exciting, so what I wanna do is I'd love to learn a little bit about how you got started, and specifically, you decided radio broadcasting, right, in, in, in, uh, in the Midwest was just not your thing, got into sales, And then take, continue the story from there. Why get into writing, and why get into speaking?

A Well, I, when I first got into sales, I knew nothing about it, so I began to study those who did. Tom Hopkins, this is 35 years ago, Tom Hopkins, Zig Ziglar, some of those, and just utilizing their systems turned me from being unsuccessful in sales to successful in sales. There was a system, and I define, personally define a system as the process of predictably achieving a goal Based on a logical and specific set of how-to principles. The key is predictability. If it's been proven that by doing A you'll get the desired result of B, then you know all you need to do is A and continue to do A and you'll get the desired result of B. Uh, I think that's really important because when you can seek out, it means you don't have to invent the wheel. You don't have to reinvent the wheel. You simply need to find out what other people have done who Have done what you want to do or have accomplished what you want to accomplish and, uh, duplicate what they've done in order to be successful. Of course, when you look for people to, to, um, to follow, if you will, or you look to people to learn from, you want to make sure that, that, that your values are congruent, ok? But assuming that's the case, then all you need is to determine how to do something. And just do that.
