Ethan Diamond, co-founder and CEO of Bandcamp, discusses Bandcamp's philosophy regarding profitability and traditional Silicon Valley growth metrics with Guy Raz.
“No, they don't. No, I mean, we're really just, I focused on our mission of serving artists. That's what inspires me. That's what I, you know, what I get excited about doing And I would say the company has grown and succeeded more as a side effect of focusing on that mission that we really have. And that to me is just, you know, that's a lot more satisfying than if we, I think, took the approach of, yeah, we were focused on what our mission here is actually grow the company, get it to this size, go public, sell it, whatever it is. That just hasn't really been the focus ever.”
