The Exchanges

Every argument clarity score on this site is built from rows on this page. Each question and answer was assessed with names hidden, the host's own answers included, on four things from 1 to 5: directness (does it answer the question asked), coherence (do the ideas follow), precision (concrete details and clear references), compression (says a lot per word). The weighted mix (30/30/25/15) is the exchange score. A person's published score averages their exchange scores on raw tape only, at least 8 of them, shrunk toward the cohort mean. Full method →

Every exchange below was scored with names hidden, four dimensions each from 1 to 5. An exchange's score is 0.30·directness + 0.30·coherence + 0.25·precision + 0.15·compression. The published score averages the raw tape exchange scores and shrinks small samples toward the cohort mean, so five great answers can't beat twenty good ones. Produced feed rows count only toward coarse estimates, never toward a full score.

Q And you did this for a non-profit cause too?

A Yeah, absolutely. Um, so Build was about honoring my mentors, but it was also about helping the planet, and so all net proceeds that come to me are going to be five X matched. Buy me to go into a climate, uh, crisis fund to, uh, to go and, and give that money to, or invest that money in climate crisis businesses, trying to fix the existential problem we have. And any monies that come from those businesses go into climate philanthropic endeavors as well. So this whole thing is all about honoring the mentors and helping the planet and, and helping builders to build the next generation of technologies and a greater society, a greater planet, and a better health for us all.

Q How does, how does that work in practice? It's like, how does it, how are the constraints make these better?

A You put the constraints on it. So everything is better when it has constraints. So you money, time, number of people, and the technology you're going for. But the best way to do the constraints, what I do, and this is all the story of why, and the, and you have to have a story for it, is to write a press release. And that press release, before you even get started, sets the constraints. Who's your audience? What are the key three features, maybe four features, No more than three or four, because the consumers can't understand it any more than that. Do those three or four, and then you say the price, the time, all those other things. You, you, you call it out. It's a real shorthand form, and you use that as your, as your measuring stick of, oh, is this feature in or out? Do we really need this feature?
