Valerie Schafer Franklin co-founded Artisans Cooperative, a member-owned online marketplace created as an artisan-led alternative to Etsy following the 2022 #EtsyStrike. With her husband Geoffrey Franklin, she runs Oregon-based handcrafted leather goods company Walnut Studiolo and co-authored the book Idiot's Guides: Leather Crafts.
