“One of the earliest tests we ran was we recruited two groups of drivers. Roughly speaking, 20 drivers who drove for UberX at the time and 20 who deliver for DoorDash. The control, if you will, variable was that they both earned 20 dollars. An hour, each group. I made them an offer to work for 25 dollars an hour guaranteed if they were to switch jobs. If the DoorDash drivers would go over to UberX and UberX drivers would come over to DoorDash. Exactly one driver out of two groups of 20, so one out of 40 said yes.”
