The Exchanges

Every argument clarity score on this site is built from rows on this page. Each question and answer was assessed with names hidden, the host's own answers included, on four things from 1 to 5: directness (does it answer the question asked), coherence (do the ideas follow), precision (concrete details and clear references), compression (says a lot per word). The weighted mix (30/30/25/15) is the exchange score. A person's published score averages their exchange scores on raw tape only, at least 8 of them, shrunk toward the cohort mean. Full method →

Every exchange below was scored with names hidden, four dimensions each from 1 to 5. An exchange's score is 0.30·directness + 0.30·coherence + 0.25·precision + 0.15·compression. The published score averages the raw tape exchange scores and shrinks small samples toward the cohort mean, so five great answers can't beat twenty good ones. Produced feed rows count only toward coarse estimates, never toward a full score.

Q Okay, got it. So six bucks on a hundred or, or whatever, 60 on, on a thousand. That's helpful to understand. And let me ask you a question. Do you see the same pattern that you see with part, like physical gift cards? In other words, how much, uh, go on, uh, unclaimed?

A Yeah, you know, it's, um, this is obviously a big issue in the, in the gift card world. I think, you know, the, if you, if you kind of net it all out, there are, you know, probably four or five percent of, of the value of a gift card, you know, ultimately does not get used. And this is what the industry calls breakage, uh, or just unused value. Um, typically with the, with the brands that we work with, that I would say are kind of the, the better brands, the higher reputation brands, that number is extremely low. Um, so when you're getting a, uh, a gift card to a, uh, a merchant like an iTunes or a Starbucks or, uh, um, an Amazon, the vast majority of that value gets used. So typically the, the paper based or even the physical is Gift cards, uh, maybe even to a local restaurant, uh, where those numbers can be quite a bit higher. It's very low on the types of gift cards that we work with.

AI assessment note: “probably four or five percent of, of the value of a gift card, you know, ultimately does not get used”
