The Exchanges

Every argument clarity score on this site is built from rows on this page. Each question and answer was assessed with names hidden, the host's own answers included, on four things from 1 to 5: directness (does it answer the question asked), coherence (do the ideas follow), precision (concrete details and clear references), compression (says a lot per word). The weighted mix (30/30/25/15) is the exchange score. A person's published score averages their exchange scores on raw tape only, at least 8 of them, shrunk toward the cohort mean. Full method →

Every exchange below was scored with names hidden, four dimensions each from 1 to 5. An exchange's score is 0.30·directness + 0.30·coherence + 0.25·precision + 0.15·compression. The published score averages the raw tape exchange scores and shrinks small samples toward the cohort mean, so five great answers can't beat twenty good ones. Produced feed rows count only toward coarse estimates, never toward a full score.

Q Good. So tell us what Scentage does and how you make money. What's your business model?

A So Scentage makes a budgeting and planning tool. Sounds pretty simple and a little bit mundane, but every company in the country and the world does budgeting. Every company has a general ledger package, a back office general ledger package that runs their business. So, 80%, 70 or 80%, depending on who you listen to, of people use Excel for their budgeting. And it's super complicated. It requires you to build a complex model, maintain that model. If you have multiple companies or multiple product lines and lots of different people, it's really impossible to keep that budget model in place. So, Scentage was created for the purpose of automating that whole process, building, bringing like an intelligent, pre-packaged, purpose-built product to the market to replace Excel for budgeting. So it has all the different, uh, rules and accounting rules and logic you'd need to build a budget.

Q And can you just describe to folks, uh, first two things? One, how much capital have you raised to facilitate some of this change in total? And two, uh, what does on-prem mean for those that aren't familiar?

A So on-prem just as we would license the software to people, right? And they'd run it on a server at their facility. Um, and, um, so it was a license model where we would charge, uh, annual maintenance of support to the people, and that's the way we manage it now. It's a complete subscription hosted by us, you know, on the cloud on AWS. Uh, and so forth. So one thing I want to say before I tell you how much money we raise, which I'm happy to do, but our competitors, just give me an idea of the sort of excitement of this market and how big this market might be. So we've probably got 10 competitors, only one or two of which really play in our space. We're kind of in the SMB space. So, so probably twenty five million to five hundred million dollar companies. So there are a lot of people in the larger
