The Exchanges

Every argument clarity score on this site is built from rows on this page. Each question and answer was assessed with names hidden, the host's own answers included, on four things from 1 to 5: directness (does it answer the question asked), coherence (do the ideas follow), precision (concrete details and clear references), compression (says a lot per word). The weighted mix (30/30/25/15) is the exchange score. A person's published score averages their exchange scores on raw tape only, at least 8 of them, shrunk toward the cohort mean. Full method →

Every exchange below was scored with names hidden, four dimensions each from 1 to 5. An exchange's score is 0.30·directness + 0.30·coherence + 0.25·precision + 0.15·compression. The published score averages the raw tape exchange scores and shrinks small samples toward the cohort mean, so five great answers can't beat twenty good ones. Produced feed rows count only toward coarse estimates, never toward a full score.

Q Was that scary for you? I, I, I learned from two types of entrepreneurs on the show. Either they've totally hedged their bet. They used corporate job and their salary to save up enough cushion where if the new thing failed, it would be no big issue. And then other people totally risk it all. Which bucket were you in?

A Um, probably more the first. I mean, I, like, worked there for a while, had, had saved up, you know, I had a great relationship there, so when I, they started having conversations with me about moving to SVP, and then I quit, actually, the, the next week, and, uh, but I knew that, you know, I mean, it was a, it wasn't, like, a, a risk that, you know, in the sense of, my family's gonna be destitute, you know, if things didn't work out with CB Insights, I'd go back to, uh, they said, hey, well, We'll take you back. I think at this point it's been so long that I'm sort of unemployable at a big company, but, um, but back then, you know, I'm sure if I could have, although, uh, that would have been a huge ego hit if, if I had to, if I had to go crawl back to, to the big company.

AI assessment note: “probably more the first. I mean, I, like, worked there for a while, had, had saved up”
