Levie: SaaS growth is primarily a function of scaling investment

Aaron Levie, co-founder and CEO of Box, explains the core SaaS growth thesis and capital allocation strategy following Box's IPO.
“Once you understand that dynamic, then actually the, your growth and your scale of your business is actually most functional to how much you invest in, in scaling it up. So once we figured that part out, and once capital was relatively cheap, we just decided, well, why don't we just go and scale as fast as possible, as big as possible, because the market, there's no real, like, we're never, I mean, for the next many years, we're not going to bump up against our total addressable market, so our growth is essentially dependent on what level of investment we put into growing the business, and once we determined that, we just decided to kind of push on the gas pedal.”
