Jaspreet Singh, founder of Druva, explains why SaaS founders should not split focus between disparate geographic regions until reaching substantial scale.
“You have to either choose a US or choose Southeast Asia. You can't do both because if your product market fit is good, the best company will still take the biggest market pretty quickly, right? So being in two different markets actually doesn't help because these two markets don't talk to each other. They have nothing in common often, right? Different distribution engine, different go to market, different customers, different, different customer needs. So you'd rather choose one market and do it well until you reach about, probably about like a hundred plus million dollars. Once you're a hundred plus, you can be in different countries, different segments and any of those things.”

Indian enterprises buy horizontally while US buyers prefer best-of-breed software
“For example, a market like India still buys horizontally. That, Hey, can you up? Right. So like a lot of horizontal buying still happens in India while the US still buys very vertically best of breed, which must integrate well.”
