Dr. Hernández is a sociologist who pioneered foundational research operationalizing the concept of energy insecurity at the intersection of housing, energy justice, and public health. She is the co-author of the book Powerless: The People's Struggle for Energy and has served on New York City's Environmental Justice Advisory Board.
