Altman: Silicon Valley's startup dominance will weaken relatively quickly
Sam Altman · Uncut Interview with Sam Altman on Masters of Scale [Audio] · Y Combinator · Feb 23, 2018 · at 43:54
Speaking with Reid Hoffman about startup blitzscaling, Sam Altman discusses whether Silicon Valley's network effects can be replicated in other regional tech hubs.
“And if I disagree with anything, it would be how quickly that will spread outside of Silicon Valley. I think it may happen relatively quickly. So there's still a question of how long, there's still a question of how long does Silicon Valley Remain the absolute dominant force in startups, and I think at this point a lot of that knowledge and talent and people and capital and cultural mindshare and whatever is seeping out in a way that I think is good. And so I don't know if it's against the theory, but it would at least suggest a relative weakening of Silicon Valley.”
