Adobe Chief Product Officer Scott Belsky explains his thesis on 'polygamous careers' and why multi-disciplinary creative work outcompetes narrow corporate specialization.
“Creativity is the new productivity. You know, we're going to stand out increasingly in our work. And on social media and on any other thing that's, you know, amplifying our opportunity stream through our creativity, you know, it's not about doing things faster. It's about standing out and doing things more beautifully and elegantly and whatever else. And so if they're, if we're all becoming artists of AI and robots, you know, is automating all of the productivity side of our equation and it's all about creativity. Well then we, you know, we better be acting like artists and artists die when they become too specialized. Like the whole point of being an artist is to be like exposed to many mediums and constantly be changing your own craft.”
