The Exchanges

Every argument clarity score on this site is built from rows on this page. Each question and answer was assessed with names hidden, the host's own answers included, on four things from 1 to 5: directness (does it answer the question asked), coherence (do the ideas follow), precision (concrete details and clear references), compression (says a lot per word). The weighted mix (30/30/25/15) is the exchange score. A person's published score averages their exchange scores on raw tape only, at least 8 of them, shrunk toward the cohort mean. Full method →

Prashant Ganti argument clarity score 4.3/5 from 8 exchanges on raw tape · average scores: directness 5 · coherence 4.4 · precision 3.8 · compression 3.9 record → ← everyone

Every exchange below was scored with names hidden, four dimensions each from 1 to 5. An exchange's score is 0.30·directness + 0.30·coherence + 0.25·precision + 0.15·compression. The published score averages the raw tape exchange scores and shrinks small samples toward the cohort mean, so five great answers can't beat twenty good ones. Produced feed rows count only toward coarse estimates, never toward a full score.

Q Dear listeners, before we dive further into the podcast, I would like to welcome Prashant Kanti, Head of Product Management at Zoho Payroll and Zoho Books. Prashant, Zoho products are an interconnected ecosystem that solves problems across all functions of a business. How is Zoho Payroll solving problems beyond payroll?

A Thanks Siddharth. That's a very good question and comes to the heart of Zoho. So we, from the very beginning had decided we are not going to be a single product company. So, and we also believe that the systems have to be deeply integrated. There should data should not be present within one system. Data has to flow across multiple systems and payroll, right? By its very virtue straddles both HR and finance, two extremely critical departments that are important for the functioning of the organization, right? So we provide bi-directional Data synchronization between our HR suite of products, as well as the finance suite. From the upstream, when employee joins, right, his details automatically flow to the payroll system, and when the payroll processing is done, right, it automatically flows to the accounting system. So it helps with end-to-end automation. It helps HR department. It helps the finance department, and furthermore, Uh, this going forward will flow into the analytics also. So there's complete end to end bi-directional data synchronization, and, uh, this helps with everything. So basically business spend less in any of the administrative tasks and can do more value at work.

Q That's a fantastic idea, Tim. Dear listeners, before we dive further into the podcast, I would like to welcome Prashant Kanti, head of product management at Zoho Payroll and Zoho Books. Prashant, where do founders usually struggle with payroll, and how can they fix it?

A Thanks, Siddharth. Founders want to give their best for their employees, and they realize very early on, right? Payroll and compensation is a very, very important part of what they are going to handle. However, what we have seen is, ah, where they miss out is usually on finding out the best solution That can grow along with that business. And that's where, for example, the payroll complexity can grow very quickly. Initially, when you have just a few, four or five employees, that's okay. But when you, the employee size counts, keeps on the payroll complexity grows by leaps and bounds. So it's best for founders to invest in payroll automated solutions right at the very start. So they have one less thing to worry about.

A Thanks Siddharth. So first off, right, uh, With the pandemic induced remote working. So that's something that has caught on and, uh, a hybrid working, a distributed workforce is here to stay. So this affects the way a company's HR and payroll, uh, departments operate. And, uh, so this introduces some complexities while, uh, a distributed workforce is, uh, good. Uh, it introduces payroll and HR complexities as well. Secondly, uh, we are going to see, uh, more and more in the emerging area of compensation and payroll analytics. Next, what I'm seeing is more and more embedded BFS related, embedded banking, uh, payroll systems connecting with banks, more and more banks, more and more banks coming forward to, uh, uh, integrate with payroll systems. And, uh, so do insurance providers so that There's convergence between banking, insurance, fintech, and payroll that's going to happen. Also expect, ah, more, ah, AI and ML Uh, going to be incorporated into payroll as well. That's not something that comes to your mind at the very beginning when you think about payroll, but we are going to see payroll assistance that, uh, employees can interact with to understand, uh, their compensation details better. And, uh, uh, Finally, um, we are also going to see a lot more payroll being more deeply integrated with various other systems, not just from the transaction point of view, but to help with b…
