Q Andres Guido, uh, we want to talk about sovereign AI, uh, AI and geopolitics, and let's start with the news. Uh, our partner Ben is in the Middle East right now. Um, what happened, uh, and, and why is it so important?
A What happened is, um, the kingdom announced that they're going to build their own local hyperscaler or AI platform called Humane. And I think why it's notable is that they are As opposed to the status quo of the cloud era, um, they're viewing the AI era as one where they'd like the vast majority Of AI workloads to run locally. If you can, if you think about the last 20 years, the way the cloud evolved was that the vast majority of cloud infrastructure basically existed in two places, right? China and the US. And the US ended up being the home for the vast majority of cloud providers to the rest of the world. That doesn't seem to be the way AI is playing out. Because we have a number of frontier nations who, who are basically raising their hands and saying, We'd like infrastructure independence. The idea being that we'd like our own infrastructure that runs our own models that can decide where we have the autonomy to build the future of AI independent of any other nation, which is quite a big shift. Um, and I think the headline numbers are somewhere in the range of, um, a hundred to two hundred and fifty billion worth of Cluster build out that they've announced, of which about 500 megawatt seems to be the atomic unit of these clusters that they're building. Q Zooming out a bit, um, or segue, uh, Anish and Justine, How did the categories or the topics that we've been discussing as it relates to personal software relate to themes that we've been exploring on the investing side in terms of what got us excited here?
A Yeah, I mean, look, I, I think that the YouTube metaphor is the right one that Eugenia outlined, you know, which is that we would have said in 2007 that a hundred cable channels is enough or six in your case. And, you know, now we obviously there's this entire ecosystem, everything from unboxing videos to all of the like very YouTube native content that exists. Um, and I think people are sort of have more content or more fulfilled by it. And then there's also the act of creation. Some people create for a business, but many create And post just because it's fulfilling to themselves. And software has just been so restrictive because there's only twenty million developers in the world. You know, so in a sense, all of the software that we consume is downstream of the preferences of those twenty million people. And it seems intuitive that if more people could make software, they would. And that there would be a mass market consumer product here. I think unlike many of the other products, and you should comment on this, that we've seen, it feels like this is not text to app. You know, it's not a developer or developer adjacent tool. It's truly a mass market consumer product for non-technical people.

A My sense is there's two things going on, but one I think would be the rise of capabilities in these models being now well beyond what we'd consider sort of early toy stage of technology. Now you have Foundation models literally running in defense, in healthcare, in financial services industries. You know, ChatGPD has about five hundred million monthly active users. Making real, you know, decisions in their daily lives. And so I think that makes a lot of governments go, wait a minute. If we are dependent on some other country for the underlying technology that our military, our defense, our healthcare, our financial services, and our daily citizens' lives are driven on, um, that seems like a critical point of failure.

Anish, why don't you talk about what, what got you so excited about voice in this new paradigm, and what sort of, what sort of played out, and what hasn't yet, and where do you think is going?
A The original observation that got us started was that Voice has intermediated human interaction since the beginning of time, and yet it's been in not a, not a substrate on which technology has been applied. Cause we just, the tech never worked, you know, and there's all these previous efforts, voice, XML and voice apps, and it, it just, it simply didn't work. The technology wasn't ready yet. And even then there was these pockets of, you know, Dragon Naturally Speaking and all these products from the nineties. So there was always interest in voice, but it, it never made sense as a technology substrate. And now with. The generative models , you can just use voice as a primitive. So it's sort of unexplored, yet so critical to our day to day lives. It feels like a perfect area where you'll see a lot of AI native efforts.

Q true, are you seeing, ah, AI voice companies kind of race to be the first mover in the same way that we saw in the previous generation? I mean, we talked about apps like Uber, where it's like, you know, you have to get the customers quickly, and you maybe have to blow a lot of cash to get there, but you, you know, you rein that back in later.
A Yeah, I mean, it's, it's certainly gonna be less expensive than Uber to go win the market, but yes, I mean, as Ben said many times, you have to both make a product people want, and then you have to go take the market, get from zero market share to all the market share, so it is incredibly competitive. That's why we're seeing a lot of pressure on pricing, and pricing is such an important topic in the ecosystem right now. It will definitely be a foot race, and I do think that there will, to Olivia's point, there will be some really interesting voice native motes. You know, you could imagine a voice Led investor for our firm, where it can give the, the firm's pitch the way that Mark can, and it can negotiate the way that Martine can, and it can, you know, assess the landscape the way Olivia can. Like, there's some specialization opportunities there that feel very native to voice. You know, on the other hand, integrations, network effects, you know, scale, all the traditional modes will be at play as well.
