Matteo Franceschetti, co-founder and CEO of Eight Sleep, discusses key physical metrics and monitoring heart rate recovery after high-intensity exercise.
“There is a couple of metrics that few people know, but they are very helpful. That is heart rate recovery. I don't know if you ever heard it but substantially you can use a, an app called Zones. That gets the data from your Apple Watch. You want to see how much your heart rate drops after a spike if you rest. Well, let's say you spike your heart rate to one 70 and then there is one minute and two minutes. How much does it drop? So from one 70 to one 30 and then from one 30 to one 10. That speed is indicative of how, ah, good your heart rate is.”
