The Exchanges

Every argument clarity score on this site is built from rows on this page. Each question and answer was assessed with names hidden, the host's own answers included, on four things from 1 to 5: directness (does it answer the question asked), coherence (do the ideas follow), precision (concrete details and clear references), compression (says a lot per word). The weighted mix (30/30/25/15) is the exchange score. A person's published score averages their exchange scores on raw tape only, at least 8 of them, shrunk toward the cohort mean. Full method →

Christian Claussen no published score: only 4 usable exchanges on raw tape, and a fair score needs 8+ · coarse estimate ≈4.0/5 from 4 raw tape exchanges record → ← everyone

Every exchange below was scored with names hidden, four dimensions each from 1 to 5. An exchange's score is 0.30·directness + 0.30·coherence + 0.25·precision + 0.15·compression. The published score averages the raw tape exchange scores and shrinks small samples toward the cohort mean, so five great answers can't beat twenty good ones. Produced feed rows count only toward coarse estimates, never toward a full score.

Q And do you have a specific round preference or sector preference at Ventec?

A Yeah, at Ventec we, we speak of, uh, early stage and early growth. We do both. So, uh, early stages, you know, I'm not a big fan of these AB, et cetera, round. It's more like, Early stage for us is when business models are really unproven, and it's just, you know, a cool story, um, typically with some traction, and not just seed, but, but there's some traction, but, and so we do that, and we also do what we call early growth, where you can see the initial elements being proven already of your money printing machine, so the business model is already kind of, you know, um, proven. What typically remains Unpredictable is the size of the market and the speed to scale.

Q So when I say value add, what, what, do you have any immediately stirring thoughts?

A Yeah, absolutely. So maybe before I answer your question, just to I'd like to point out two things because that sometimes came up in, in, in, in reactions to our article. I, you know, A, I'm absolutely convinced that a good VC can provide tremendous value beyond the pure provisioning of equity or financing means. And, and B, uh, while I remain very skeptical, and we will dive into that, about current professional VC claims regarding value on the operational side of things, That's where the platform idea comes in. I, I do accept the fact that there are obviously cases where these platforms can be helpful, you know, but, um, um, now this being said, I'm, What I'm actually trying to do is, and what I tried to do with the article is to, to point out that founders should see through the marketing hype and concentrate on those elements of value add that, in my view, really count, and that will make the difference on the difficult path to build successful company in the innovation space.
