Mainstream adoption of fully enclosed VR headsets is unrealistic

Snap CEO Evan Spiegel explains why he believes lightweight AR glasses will dominate spatial computing rather than VR or pass-through headsets like Apple Vision Pro.
“VR may have a specialized role, you know, for more immersive training environments or things like that. Yeah, but even then, I think folks really are going to want to be able to wear glasses and work together, right? I mean, you're going to want to be able to see your co-pilot when you're in your virtual cockpit, right? And so I think glasses are a better fit, right? For, again, most things that humans do, because at the end of the day, we're very Social species, right? That's one of the things that makes humanity so special. So I think the idea that like, we're going to use technology that fully shuts us off from the world or, you know, results in us looking at the world through a screen. I just don't think that's realistic.”
