“When you think about the structuring of traditional firms, It tends to be that the most junior people are doing a lot of the sourcing, developing a lot of the theses, having those initial conversations and building a point of view. But the investment committee and the people making the decision are a completely different crop of individuals at that firm. So it's really difficult to build conviction and build conviction early when you don't have benchmarks and you don't have research reports and you're not the one who's actually doing the direct work, being close to the nuances of the individual market.”
