Marc Andreessen, co-founder of Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), explains why long-form podcast formats are incompatible with censorship and outrage culture.
“The three hour podcast doesn't work if it's everything it, you know, if you have to stop every five seconds because some, you know, you have to accuse somebody of saying something racist, right? Like, so this like, you know, or sexist or whatever, the, this speech suppression thing, you know, that then this sort of puritanism that, that sort of kicked in, in a large part of American public life over the last 10 years with people getting blown up for saying one thing wrong. Like that just doesn't, that just like kills your ability. It kills your ability to have discussion which is of course what the intention of it is. And it certainly kills your ability to have a have a podcast.”
