Andreessen: Elite adoption of microschools will prompt broader society to skip college
Marc Andreessen · The Declining State of Higher Education · Feb 1, 2024 · at 0:16
Marc Andreessen (a16z co-founder) discusses how educational choices made by Silicon Valley elites will cascade down to influence general public behavior.
“There are some very prominent Silicon Valley people who have created microschools, pods, and so if the upper, upper tippy top of the socioeconomic stratum starts to do that, and that's the highest class thing to do, then you could imagine a future system in which You know, more and more parents kind of throughout society are like, oh, like, there actually is an escape hatch. Being on the traditional track actually is not the route to the highest status. There's this other route, and I should maybe be more creative in thinking about the trajectory that my kids have, including ultimately the question of whether they go to college.”
