Professional rock climber Alex Honnold discusses what happened immediately following his aborted first attempt to free solo El Capitan while filming Free Solo.
“Then was not in the film is then I got on my bicycle and I rode over to this other thousand foot wall that was actually the first thing I ever free solid as a kid, basically that got me sponsored. Like the reason I became professional climbers, a route called Astro man. So I went and free sold that thing again, which I hadn't done in seven or eight years. And so I did that, and then I went over and repeated another 800 foot route that afternoon.”
