This episode carries Angela Strange's own address, with nobody on the show putting
questions to them. It still counts as said, and it is kept out of every score on their page.
Angela Strange, General Partner at Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), explains how digital insurer Lemonade uses flat fees and charity-aligned pooling to eliminate moral hazard in claims.
“Lemonade collects premiums like every other insurance company. It takes a fixed percentage of those premiums, puts them aside, and that's Lemonade's profit. Then the rest of the money is going to go towards claims. But versus most other insurance companies, they do an interesting form of pooling. When you sign up for Lemonade, they ask you, what's a charity that you really care passionately about? And users are then pooled by those charities. Such that now, when someone thinks about making a claim, instead of embellishing it and stealing from faceless insurance company, they'd be taking money out of the Red Cross's profit.”
