Brandon Brown, Assistant General Manager of the New York Giants, discusses how modern professional sports organizations build buy-in by supporting athletes outside their core job descriptions.
“These players in any sport, they want to know that you're invested in them as a person, not just a jersey number. You know, it's different from the, you know, the approach that was, call it, just as I said, 10, 2030 years ago, and I think you get the most back From the player, from whether it's on the field, whether it's in the building, whether it's in the community, when you show them you're willing to give more yourself and that buy-in, like I said, that when you're willing to sweat with them, you know, maybe it's not literal sweat, but you're putting in that work sweat equity with them and it's doing things that are off the clock or not in your, you know, quote unquote job description, but you're helping their interests. You know, you get that back tenfold.”
