“Venture capital is a business about outliers, and when somebody succeeds, their opinion, and I think their decision-making gets over-indexed on their successes, which often, as you know, are outliers, and it's hard to generalize from a single outlier, and my belief is the most successful people in venture capital should have a transition timeout. Type of distribution, basically. So my point is, if you're really good at what you do, you should be forced to retire because it affects the decision making of everybody else around you. And my belief is the best venture firms actually have figured out how to manage those transitions where they force their most successful investors to step back.”
