“As a conflict between interoperability and privacy, because if you say, you know, you can say, make it easy to explain. You know, the competition regulator says, make it easy to export data, and the privacy regulator says, make it hard to export data, because actually most of the data isn't your data. You know, if you're an Instagram user, the important data is who's liked your pictures, and what else they've liked, and who else has liked those pictures, and which pictures you've liked, and what you follow, and what other pictures those people posted that you didn't like. That's the data that lets Instagram understand you, and none of that is your data. It's other people, or it's all your data and other people's data. So there's a whole sort of set of tensions in that there within that portability with other policy objectives.”
